Communist Propaganda Posters

I bought the following collection of pictures in a market in the centre of StPetersburg in February 2004. The collection of 25 are each printed on 12x19cm cards and were included in a card folder. The cards are in fairly good condition, with some small marks or stains on some of them. The copyright of the whole collection is 1984, with individual works having copyright 1978 printed on them. I suspect many of the works are older (the number 60 appears prominently in the background of one picture, suggesting 1960).

The pictures are titled according to the most prominent words on the page. I've not translated the russian (I can't), I've only attempted to give roman-alphabet versions of the text. I've probably done this pretty badly, so in order to try to make the collection more useful, I've included descriptions of the content of the pictures. If you can correct the transliteration, you can easily write into the comments box on each page, and it would be appreciated.

I added the first communist/socialist art section to my site in 2001, and since noticed that "communist art" quickly became one of the most frequently used keywords to access my site. Since then I've been looking for opportunities to add more relevant material.

I rather boldly assume that using the images on this site is in no way an infringements of anyone's copyright. Why would the Soviet communist party possibly object to 30 year old propaganda being redistributed? For more on communist/socialist art and propaganda, read a book.
