Q: Wasup? A: WAAAAZZZZUUUP! I'm in Hamburg now, got through Berlin pretty quick - there's so many construction sites, I'll come back when they're finished. Q: so you didn't like Berlin? A: Not much - but I'll give it a second chance some time in the future. Berlin's got some lovely architecture. Next time I come back will have to be in winter, so the trees don't hide everything. My main complaint about Berlin is the siye - it's too spread out. Munich and Frankfurt werer much more compact. The other thing I didn't like about Berlin was the East Berliners. Grey, communist gums. Their teeth look like their buildings. Drab grey buildings with dirty white, shiny windows. bah - commies. But the buildings! Huge factory chimneys with enormous spherical chemical vats - then sitting behind is a 13th Century fortification!. I just wanted to be one of the chimneys. I haven't missed having a camera, but when the Berlin underground started up I really wished I had a tape recorder! Coool noise - three seperate electric engines resonating and accelerating. Q: Any more funny stories? A: Well, funny you should ask... I was having a nice veggie lasagne inone of the Italian restaurants in Berlin, and this drunk American woman comes up to me - I donät know if she thought I was Gay, Jewish, or just German - and she says to me: "I'm sorry for what our people did to your people." Well, I'm flabberghasted. I'm completely lost for words. Luckily, I'd had a couple of beers, and she hung around long enough for me to reply - incredulous: "What? Are you a Kiwi??!" |
